Out of a burning desire to see Akwa Ibom succeed and continue in unity, peace and harmony, young Akwaibomites have decided to come together to revive our lost heritage and create awareness about different ethnic dialects that we have in Akwa Ibom State.

While celebrating our state's creation anniversary by September of every year, we will utilize the power of the internet via social network to inspire positive change among Akwaibomites at home and in the diaspora. This means, every post, comments, tweets, emails and SMS sent on the 23rd of September every year will be made in native Akwa Ibom languages.

The objectives of this project is: 

• To celebrate the creation anniversary of our dear State in a unique way
• To create awareness about different ethnic dialects that exist in Akwa Ibom State thereby showing unity in diversity and also;
• To show how young people are maximizing the power of social networks to create positive change and inspire unity in their communities.

Already, over 2000 members have signed up to the project's Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/usemakwaibomproject/ and on Twitter at http://twitter.com/USAKIPRO, and they are getting ready to flood the internet with posts, tweets, SMS, Emails and comments made in their native dialects. 

There will be no better way to show our love for our state than this as it has been torn apart in recent times by political divisions. The project targets 10,000 members to the group to ensure worldwide visibility and create the desired impact. 

We want to show other young people worldwide that we can use social networks to create a world where peace, harmony, joy and friendship can be felt.

So, on Sunday 23rd September 2012, Akwa Ibom State will celebrate its 25th year in existence and Akwaibomites at home and in the Diaspora will mark this day in grand style! To commemorate this day, every 2go, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, SMS, Email or Comments we make will be in Akwa Ibom language. If you are Ibibio, wed k’usem Ibibio; Annang? Wed k’usem Annang; Eket? Sem k’ikwo Ekid? Oro? Suguku nsinge Oro!
